Sr Project Manager II

Location: Johns Hopkins Health System, Baltimore, MD 21201. Category: Non‑Clinical Professional. Schedule: Day Shift. Employment Type: Full Time. Position Summary Senior Project Managers lead the construction of additions, alterations, renovations, and select ground‑up construction projects at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, and/or various satellite ambulatory locations. The role requires full lifecycle project management, including initiation, design, budgeting, construction, safety/compliance, and closeout, with a focus on effective communication, stakeholder collaboration, and problem‑solving. Essential Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities Manage renovation, tenant fit‑out, and capital renewal projects up to, and often exceeding, $20M, balancing tight timelines, limited budgets, and complex logistics. Collaborate closely with architecture, finance, engineering, clinical engineering, and other partner departments. Provide timely, accurate project status, budget, and schedule updates to internal teams and client representatives. Mentor, train, and support Project Management staff, interns, and other team members. Advise on and implement alternative delivery methods such as Design/Build and Integrated Project Delivery. Review program requirements, incorporate economic inclusion goals, develop milestone schedules, and manage project documentation (budget approvals, design documents, invoicing, RFIs, submittals). Ensure adherence to internal policies, JHHS design standards, client requirements, and sustainable practices. Maintain and monitor project budgets, provide cash flow projections, and approve invoices and change orders. Coordinate project logistics, outages, and communications with JHHS and non‑JHHS stakeholders. Monitor construction progress, risk, and compliance; conduct post‑occupancy evaluations. Engage authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to resolve discrepancies and obtain approvals. Additional Responsibilities for Senior Project Manager II Lead high‑risk, complex, and large‑scale projects independently with minimal oversight. Establish and allocate team resources in collaboration with department leadership. Mentor and advise Project Managers and Senior Project Manager I as directed. Supervise and oversee other staff on specific projects, guiding leadership and support. Participate in committees to develop standard work practices. Provide direction to third‑party project managers, consultants, and external resources. Required Minimum Education & Experience A bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred. Candidates without a bachelor’s degree but holding an associate degree, trades training, or comparable technical education will also be considered. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree or higher must have at least 8 years of comparable project management experience on projects $10M or larger. Those without a college degree must have at least 10 years of similar professional experience. No Degree – 15 years Engineering/Design/Construction Associate’s Degree – 13 years Engineering/Design/Construction Bachelor’s Degree – 12 years Engineering/Design/Construction Salary Range $53.63 /hour – $85.83 /hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
