Plant Site Utility Technician: Maintenance & Safety

About The Role Sunrock is seeking a dependable Site Utility Person to support the day-to-day housekeeping, preventive maintenance, and general upkeep of multiple Asphalt and Concrete plant sites. This role is essential to keeping plant operations running safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is hardworking, mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and able to work independently while supporting multiple job sites as needed. Key Responsibilities Perform daily site housekeeping: plant/yard cleanup, weir pits, containment areas, mixer/plant cleanup, and surrounding areas Support recycling processes and responsible handling of returned materials Assist with preventive maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, basic inspections) Visually/audibly inspect plant equipment for malfunctions and report issues to supervisor Help dismantle/replace defective equipment parts and assist with repairs Assist with pipe systems and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment (valves, gauges, regulators, etc.) Climb stairs/catwalks to complete cleaning and maintenance tasks safely Cross-train to support site equipment operations (loader, skid steer, dump truck, sweeper) Develop ability to safely use cutting torch and welding equipment Load/unload materials and supplies manually as needed Follow all Sunrock, OSHA, and MSHA safety procedures and report unsafe conditions Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Less than 1 year of related experience required (construction, maintenance, plant, industrial, or labor experience preferred) Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends Ability to travel between multiple locations as needed Valid North Carolina Driver’s License required Skills & Competencies Industrial housekeeping and site cleanup Preventive maintenance support Basic mechanical troubleshooting Ability to use hand tools safely Strong work ethic and reliability Ability to follow instructions and work independently Teamwork and communication Physical Requirements & Work Environment Physically demanding role requiring standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling Ability to lift up to 100 lbs Outdoor industrial work environment with exposure to weather, dust, noise, and moving equipment What We Offer Highly competitive pay is based on skill and certifications, paid weekly 2 weeks of PTO, Increases up to 4 weeks with service 8 paid holidays start on day 1 Guaranteed 40 hours (Winter) Up to $1000 sign on bonus for verified experience Ability to earn extra cash with $1000 referral program Full benefits package (medical, dental, vision, life) Disability and other benefits that pay CASH directly to you 401(k) with 4% company match Safety Incentive Program Apprenticeship and Lead/Foreman Development Programs Well-maintained modern equipment.
