Basic Job Purpose/Function
When fully staffed, our office is comprised of four attorneys and four administrators. The main office is located in Goldendale, Washington, with a second satellite office in White Salmon, Washington. Situated just outside of the Columbia River Gorge, the region offers ample recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. We offer a flexible/hybrid schedule, allowing the option for remote work up to several days per week depending on court dockets and case responsibilities.
Essential Job Duties
Represents the State in district court cases. Responsibilities include researching legal bases for complaints and cases filed to determine legal sufficiency, reviewing and preparing physical evidence, interviewing witnesses, requesting further investigation by law enforcement as necessary, evaluating cases for disposition, preparing charges to be filed, drafting plea agreements, and appearing on behalf of the State in hearings and jury trials.
Drafts legal pleadings including information and/or criminal complaints, jury instructions, trial briefs, motions in limine, probable cause statements.
Consults with law enforcement regarding their investigations when requested and advises law enforcement about legal issues related to the criminal cases.
Maintains current knowledge of the substantive, procedural and evidentiary laws of the State of Washington, federal constitutional law, and procedures of the district, juvenile, superior and appellate courts.
Fill in for other prosecutors as needed.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques and related tools/equipment to accomplish the basic function of this position, including any safety and/or legal requirements. This may, but not necessarily, include specialized skills.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be
Juris Doctor or equivalent degree and any combination of education and experience that would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.

Valid state driver's license in state of residence Member in good standing of the State Bar of Washington
