Advanced Practice Nurse Pediatric Infectious Disease We are seeking a dedicated Pediatric Infectious Disease APN/NP to join our team in Peoria, Illinois, providing expert care to pediatric patients with complex infections, including immunocompromised hosts, HIV, and emerging infectious diseases. The role involves outpatient and/or inpatient care, collaboration with physicians, and participation in research/education. Position Summary The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides comprehensive health care for assigned patients/community as determined by scope of practice guidelines and specialty. This includes completion of a health assessment, determining diagnosis, planning and prescribing treatment within the parameters of medical staff privileges at the University of Illinois and area of expertise. The APRN participates in the educational experiences of nursing students, medical students, residents and other health care disciplines. The APRN is required to have and maintain a faculty appointment in order to receive clinical privileges to practice at the University of Illinois. Duties & Responsibilities Manage the care of patients within assigned area and/or area of expertise and within parameters of medical staff privileges. Obtain relevant patient health history; study and interpret patient tests and records. Perform physical exam and record findings. Perform various diagnostic, preventive and/or therapeutic procedures and/or order special screenings and developmental or laboratory tests to diagnose conditions; interpret results. Prescribe/order appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and develop a treatment plan. Develop an educational plan for patient/family. Assist with scheduling of patients for upcoming procedures including coordinating with other services (division, departments) and completion of necessary documentation, scheduling forms, and clearance. Order appropriate consultation/referral. Determine effectiveness of treatment plan with documentation of treatment provided and patient outcomes. Reassess and modify plan with patient/family and treatment team within the parameters of medical staff privileges. Participate in the educational experiences of nursing students, medical students, residents, and other healthcare disciplines through case conferences, preceptorship, mentoring, and curriculum development. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Clinical: Diagnose and manage pediatric infectious diseases, order/interpreting lab tests, prescribing medications, performing procedures (if applicable). Collaboration: Work with pediatricians, ID physicians, pharmacists, and infection control teams. Education: Counsel families on prevention, treatment, and follow-up care. Research/Quality Improvement: Participate in clinical trials, guidelines, or infection prevention initiatives (if applicable). Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. Graduation from accredited APRN program. Current license as a Professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice. Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois required. Preferred Qualifications Trained in pediatric infectious diseases for at least 6 months. Prior experience in pediatrics, immunology, or hospital medicine is a plus. Strong clinical judgment in pediatric infectious diseases (e.g., antibiotic stewardship, viral infections, travel medicine). Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication skills for patient/family education. Salary and Benefits Budgeted salary range: $97,000 to $110,000 per year. This position is intended to be eligible for benefits.
