Speech and Language Pathologist

Position Type: Certified Student Support Services/Speech & Language Pathologist Qualifications Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university. Valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). Meet all applicable Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and federal requirements to provide speech & language services in a public school setting. Job Summary Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations using a variety of formal and informal assessment tools. Interpret evaluation results and determine eligibility in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized speech and language intervention plans aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). Provide evidence-based speech and language therapy services in individual, small-group, and classroom settings. Monitor student progress, collect and analyze data, and adjust services based on student performance and needs. Prepare and maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation, including evaluations, IEPs, progress reports, service logs, Medicaid billing, and other required records. Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, administrators, and related service providers to support student success. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, strategies, and recommendations to support skill development across environments. Participate in and, when appropriate, facilitate Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings. Consult with staff regarding communication strategies, accommodations, and classroom supports. Support and implement a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to promote early intervention and improved student outcomes. Advocate for equitable access to educational opportunities for all students. Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal special education requirements, professional standards, and ethical practices. Participate in professional learning and continuous improvement activities. Demonstrate strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills while managing multiple priorities.
