Cherry Brook Health Care Center, a division of New Horizons, Inc., is a 100 bed skilled nursing facility in Canton, CT.

PURPOSE OF YOUR POSITION:

The primary purpose of your job position is to provide your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care in accordance with our established nursing care procedures, and as may be directed by the licensed staff nurse.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Responsible and accountable to carry out your assigned duties and report to the licensed staff charge nurse.
• Meet the nursing and rehabilitation needs of each resident.
• Complete residents’ assignments effectively and promptly.
• Observe changes in resident conditions and promptly report them.
• Document accurately and completely.
• Promptly answer call lights and assure that all are placed within the reach of the resident.
• Demonstrate correct safety techniques in accordance with training processes and your specific job description.
• Contributes to effective communication and pleasant working conditions.
• Contribute to and promote positive resident and family relations.
• Demonstrate leadership skills.

EDUCATION:

Must be a registered certified nurses’ aide in accordance with laws of this state. CPR certification preferred, but not necessary. High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

General work experience in long-term care preferred but not necessary.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.
• Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and nonprofessional personnel.
• Must be able to communicate effectively to appropriate personnel regarding emergency situations.
• Must be able to push, pull, and do heavy lifting without restrictions up to 51 pounds.
• Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents in emergencies.
