As a Senior Fraud Analyst , you will help shape Mudflap’s fraud strategy as we scale our payments platform and expand into new products and payment rails. You’ll combine deep analytics, strong fraud intuition, and cross-functional leadership to identify emerging threats, design effective controls, and balance loss prevention with customer experience and growth. This is a highly visible role for someone who wants to move beyond investigating individual cases and build the systems, strategies, and analytical frameworks that determine how a growing fintech manages fraud at scale. To support our team, we offer: Commuter benefits to ease your travel Lunches and snacks to keep you fueled A collaborative, high-growth environment where you’ll work closely with talented teammates across the company Expectations (In this role, you will): Own and evolve fraud strategies across Mudflap’s payments products, including fleet card and legacy payment products Identify emerging fraud patterns and translate insights into scalable rules, controls, and policies Partner with Data Science to develop, evaluate, and improve fraud detection models Use SQL, Python, and advanced analytics to uncover fraud trends, vulnerabilities, and opportunities Define fraud KPIs, loss thresholds, and monitoring frameworks tied to risk appetite and unit economics Build dashboards and reporting that surface emerging risks and measure strategy effectiveness Partner with Product and Engineering to embed fraud controls into new products and customer experiences Evaluate and implement third-party fraud tools, data sources, and detection capabilitiesl Develop fraud strategies that enable safe expansion into new payment rails, including ACH Balance fraud prevention, customer friction, growth, and profitability as Mudflap scales Experience (What we look for): 5+ years of experience in fraud strategy, risk, or payments, ideally within fintech or a high-volume payments business Hands-on experience developing and optimizing fraud strategies, including rules, controls, monitoring, and loss management Strong analytical skills with advanced SQL; proficiency with Python and spreadsheets preferred Experience analyzing transaction data to identify fraud patterns, vulnerabilities, and root causes Strong judgment balancing fraud loss, customer friction, growth, and profitability Experience partnering with Data Science, Product, Engineering, and Operations to implement fraud solutions Familiarity with card payments, ACH, digital payments, or other complex payment ecosystems Ability to turn ambiguous data into clear recommendations and action High ownership, curiosity, and comfort operating in a fast-changing environment Perks and Benefits (What we offer): Competitive salary and equity in a high-growth startup Multiple health benefit options Responsible Time Off 401(k) matching Opportunities and support for major career growth Annual Company offsite event (Mudfest!) The base salary range for this role is $145,000 - $195,000.
