Mid-Level Test & Evaluation EngineerCompany:The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) team is seeking an Experienced Metrology Test & Evaluation Engineer to join our team in Patuxent River, MD. As a Metrology engineer you will have an important and exciting role in the company that could include engaging with the factory and other engineers, working with large-volume advanced manufacturing machines, engaging with outside vendors of test equipment, designing and building test fixtures, programming software, and developing procedures to test new equipment. You will tackle new and challenging problems every day.Metrology is the science of measurement and includes all theoretical and practical aspects of measurement. Metrology engineering covers the basic understanding of how measurement accuracy and precision impacts our ability to make repeatable and reproducible measurements throughout Boeing, basic understanding of the importance of measurement traceability and the role calibration plays in establishing traceability, and the quality systems that support these processes.Position Responsibilities Include:Develops solutions to calibration systems problems of moderate scope and impactMakes routine contacts with customersUtilizes appropriate tools, processes and proceduresAssists with the design of calibration systemsAids in the development of data processing tools and algorithmsAuthors calibration procedures and conducts measurement uncertainty evaluationsCalibration data analysis. Conducts calibration data validity using established Metrology practices and proceduresMeasurement uncertainty evaluation and equipment service interval analysisDevelops project plans using the principles of project management and performance goalsGathers and analyzes requirements for measurement and test equipment calibrationAids with the calibration and certification of tools and measurement and test equipmentSupport maintenance of the calibration systemSupports maintenance of reference standards traceability, calibration procedures and softwareDevelops solutions to emergent requirements during day-to-day activitiesSupports the development and verification of test methods.Develops detailed test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition, needed to perform the test and minimize risk within the constraints of the test planDesigns test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirementsUses analytical tools to verify the design.Reviews test data, including off-nominal data, for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customerPrepares and publishes test reports to document test results and satisfy requirements. Presents test results internallyTrains others.
