General Maintenance Tech II

Provides skilled planned and corrective cross-functional maintenance and repair services including carpentry, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing for designated facilities on the Columbia campus of the University of South Carolina.

Requires job related accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Driver's license required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated ability to use a computer. Ability to develop and maintain strong customer service skills, maintain harmonious working relationship with departmental staff, work independently, maintain functional awareness of typical hazards within the work place, work within established resources, communicate both orally and in writing, maintain accurate records relating to time, materials and services provided, organize, plan and prioritize work.

Job duties include maintaining and implementing a safe and effective corrective maintenance program for complex operations involving carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems within assigned buildings; coordinating the installation of new and modified maintenance related systems; providing exceptional customer service; performing administrative tasks to support efficient maintenance operations; and other duties as required.
