Details Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit Community hospital setting with 100-200 facility births per month Patient population includes antepartum, L&D, LDRP, Level I Nursery, and low risk mother/baby cases Patient ratio of 1:2 Uses Cerner charting system Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15 Every other weekend required, totaling 6 weekend shifts in 6 weeks Requirements Active Compact RN license or MD RN license required Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, C-EFM through NCC, FHM, and NRP AWHONN Advanced and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience within the last 7 years required Community hospital experience required Cerner charting system experience required Skilled in circulating for C-sections and fetal heart monitoring (FHM) Must have completed at least one previous travel assignment Two supervisory references required, including one from most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years Additional Information Responsibilities include managing labor and delivery care, assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and postpartum care Skilled in fetal monitoring including use of external and internal fetal monitors and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns Experience caring for patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, preterm labor, and postpartum hemorrhage Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment All time off requests must be submitted at the time of application and cannot be changed after manager review Candidates with previous MedStar employment must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler First-time travelers are not accepted; at least one prior travel assignment is required Manager interviews are not guaranteed for this position American Traveler Job ID P-720003.
