Deer Research Technician Position Details Posting Number G/R26671P Main Campus: Athens, GA Department: Warnell-Sch Forestry & Nat Res Employment Type: Employee Full Time Equivalent: 0.5 Anticipated Start Date: 08/01/2024 Closing Date: Open Until Filled Responsibilities Assist a master’s student with data collection at the Whitehall Deer Research Facility. Move deer throughout the facility and prepare the site for experiments. Help conduct jumping trials in which deer attempt to cross vertical barriers while recorded by an array of high‑speed cameras. Perform data entry, organize study materials, and complete any necessary preparation or concluding activities. Work outdoors for several hours, potentially including early mornings or late evenings. Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in progress in wildlife ecology and management or a closely related field. Experience moving and handling large mammals, particularly white‑tailed deer, is preferred. Strong work ethic, positive attitude, effective communication skills, and willingness to learn. Physical Demands Must be able to walk across uneven ground and work in close proximity to large animals. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Driving is required.
