The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process.


HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application's progress. Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including setting up interviews as needed. This position is eligible for a hybrid telework scheduled for employee's who can satisfactorily perform their essential work functions independently and remotely. Specific telework schedules may be discussed further during the interview process. Telework is only available to residents of California.


Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I (ITM I), the Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) serves as the lead technical advisor responsible for delivering complex, high-impact technology solutions for the Educational and Rehabilitative Technologies unit within the Incarcerated Population & Community Solutions (IPCS), Enterprise Information Services (EIS). The incumbent provides senior-level expertise in application development, system modernization, process improvement, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration.

The ITS II leads end-to-end technical initiatives, drives organizational process improvements, and works closely with executive leadership, stakeholders, and technical teams to advance departmental goals. The incumbent applies strong analytical, technical, and communication skills to ensure system quality, improve operational workflows, and support strategic technology objectives across the organization.

Working Conditions


The main EIS location is in a park-like campus setting across from the Folsom Lake auto dealerships in Rancho Cordova, close to US Highway 50 and the Hazel light rail station. We are minutes from historic Sutter Street, the Folsom Premium Outlets, and many dining establishments.

The position is eligible for hybrid telework, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
