Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Med/Surg night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and open to first-time travelers.

Details

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit with a Neuro focus in a hospital setting
• General medicine patient population with a focus on neurological diagnoses including CVA
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 18:45-7:15
• 36 or 48 hour weekly schedules accepted
• 13-26 week contract lengths accepted
• Weekend requirement of 5-6 shifts, equating to every other weekend
• Floating required, with travelers floating first
• Uses Pyxis for medication, EPIC for documentation, and SBAR for communication
• May be assigned to a Storm Team/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters

Requirements

• Active RN license, NC or Compact, pending acceptable at submission
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Neuro and telemetry experience preferred
• Charge RN experience or willingness to learn preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV therapy, and peripheral line care
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide patient care using a teamwork approach with a strong focus on patient safety
• Neurological and psychiatric patient care skills utilized alongside respiratory and IV therapy management
• 24-hour unit orientation provided, with weekly onboarding sessions
• Navy blue scrubs required and not provided by facility
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
• Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM, PRN, or EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
• Current travel per diem clinicians with this facility must choose between travel or per diem status
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs are allowed if on different units with own transportation
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
