POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the direct supervision of the Buildings & Grounds Director, this position performs a wide variety of maintenance work. Performs additional work as required and provides assistance to other maintenance employees as assigned by immediate supervisor. There are no supervisory duties.

SHIFT

This position is a School Year 200-day assignment approximately mid-August through mid-June (with summer work available, if desired). The standard shift is Monday - Friday, 8-hours per day from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
• Punctual with good attendance.
• In-person attendance required.
• Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
• Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasks.
• Ability to relate to, communicate, and cooperate with staff, students, and the general public.
• General knowledge of cleaning, repairing, and maintaining tile and carpeted floors.
• Knowledge and ability to clean and sanitize bathrooms.
• Assist, as needed, with grounds keeping and snow removal.
• Capable of climbing an eight (8) foot ladder.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 25-35 pounds (repeated lifting).
• Strong desire to be part of a fast-paced team.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Clean and maintain assigned areas of the building, including, but not limited to:

o Vacuum, spot treat, and extract carpeted areas.

o Clean and sanitize bathrooms and locker rooms.

o Maintain paper towel, toilet paper and soap dispensers.

o Empty pencil sharpeners and clean white board trays.

o Empty waste baskets; clean and sanitize waste receptacles.

o Maintain tile and rubber floor surfaces.

o Clean and sanitize drinking fountains.

o Dust parallel surfaces.

o Assist with unloading and storing of deliveries.

o Ability to use and maintain equipment and tolls properly.

o Assist as needed with grounds keeping and stadium clean up.

o Clean windows, window ledges, and drinking fountains.

o Dust shelves, desks, chairs, filing cabinets, lockers etc.

o Remove graffiti from lockers, walls, bathroom walls and partitions, etc.

o Replace burned-out light bulbs.
• Assist with special function set-up, tear down and clean up (repeated lifting and moving of chairs, tables, etc.)

o School- Related activities.

o Athletic events.

o Community Education events & activities.
• Assist with general cleaning of entire building during school vacation periods or at other times set up by supervisor.
• May assist other custodial staff with grounds maintenance to include but not limited to mowing, weed removal, and/or snow removal, as needed.
• Other duties which may be assigned by a supervisor.

COMPENSATION


According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement with Local 517M, Service Employees International Union, AFL-CIO and the school district, wages pursuant to the contract; Current hourly wage range $15.81 - $17.34, based on experience; medical, dental and vision benefits available (Employees new to the district pay 10.0% of cost). Position covered by state school employee retirement plan.
