USTA PNW is looking for Site Directors and Instructors to help drive our mission on and off the court. This position reports to the Regional Manager of Recreational Tennis for the designated area. This position is PART-TIME and SEASONAL. Site Directors must be over 18 years of age before program start date. Instructors can be a minor (17 years of age or younger) and we encourage minors to apply. Minors should use this application to be considered. As one of the 17 sections of the USTA, the national governing body of the sport of tennis, USTA PNW serves over 25,000 individual adult and junior members, 200+ tennis facilities, and provides low-cost RecTennis afterschool and summer programs to 40,000 participants. MAJOR DUTIES

Create a welcoming, safe, and fun learning environment for all participants. Communicate professionally with parents, partners, and community organizers. Communicate prompt with Regional Manager as issues arise including, but not limited to; participant safety, extreme weather conditions, staff shortages, etc. Implement and understand the program curriculum and provide on-going instruction and expertise at program sites. Lead and direct participants activities and (transitions) assigned by the Site Director. Ensure equipment set-up and take down for each session. Ensure that all equipment is in safe condition to use. Storing or the transport of equipment may be necessary depending on location working. Check attendance roll for each session and check-out with parent sign-off for conclusion of each session. Stay at site until all participants have been picked up by authorized personnel. Perform marketing tasks as needed which include, but are not limited to, hanging flyers, working at marketing events, etc. Follow and implement all USTA PNW procedures and protocols at all times. Must understand and comply with the SafePlay code at all times. Performing other duties as assigned.

SITE DIRECTOR SPECIFIC DUTIES

Communicates with the Regional Manager of Recreational Tennis on how to handle the conditions that may delay or cancel a day of camp. It is crucial for the Site Directors to work closely with their managers to create the best plan of action on those days when plans are derailed due to weather conditions (rain, lightning, smoke, high winds, etc.). Site Director may be asked to transport equipment in their personal vehicles if there is no secure on-site location for storage at the site. The Site Director will lead the day to day flow and direct Instructors. Site Directors must be 18 years of age or older.

ON-COURT VS. OFF-COURT

90% On-Court 10% Off-Court (preparing daily lesson plans and activities, setting up for day and cleaning up after camp) Subject to change with business needs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Site Directors support and partner with Instructors, and will lead and direct participant activities and the general flow of the day. Instructors have no supervisory responsibilities in regards to other staff.

INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

Instructors work primarily and directly with Site Director and Regional Manager of Recreational Tennis. Site Directors oversee and direct Instructors and work directly with the Regional Manager to problem-solve and communicate issues and feedback as needed.

EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

Maintains high quality customer service with parents, participants, and public.

TRAVEL DEMANDS

Staff are responsible for the travel to and from the job site every work day. Staff must have what is deemed as reliable transportation which can mean bus, bike, personal vehicle, etc.

When reviewing this position during the year, the following will serve as performance indicators: Pre and Post Season/Program Reviews performed by Supervisor (if applicable) Achievement of specific objectives for areas of responsibility. QUALIFICATIONS

Experience teaching tennis is preferred. Instructors can be an employee of any age. To act as a Site Director the employee must be 18+ years of age. Experience working with children and adults in a teaching setting is preferred. Dependability, communication skills, and an excellent work ethic. Ability to accept guidance and supervision. Desire to work with children and act as a positive role model. Ability to lead and direct participants activities and transitions. Desire, passion, and ability to promote and grow the game of tennis. Ability and comfort of collaborating and taking direction. Must have the ability to pass a background check. Ability to make quick decisions that best serve participants. Work independently and collaboratively to accomplish responsibilities, goals and projects. Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers, partners, vendors.

CONDITIONS OF HIRE

Must have the ability to continually pass a background check. Must complete the USTA Safe Sport online education course. Link provided with offer of employment. Online course takes approximately 90 minutes. Required refreshers annually. Must sign the USTA PNW Seasonal Offer Letter and Seasonal Employee Handbook.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS + WORK ENVIRONMENT

Programs occur at outdoor and indoor sites/facilities and may include extreme weather conditions (heavy rainfall, high temperatures and sun exposure, etc.). The ability to lift 20-45 pounds regularly. The ability to squat and bend over regularly. The ability to carry out repetitive motions regularly. The ability to lift and carry awkward items from one location to another. The ability to respond quickly to sounds and visual cues (such as alarms and/or safety concerns both on and off court). The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations. The ability to work in extreme weather and indoor/outdoor conditions including school gymnasiums. The ability to stand for length of shift (with breaks and lunches given per policy).

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Hourly rates outlined in annually signed Offer Letter. Position currently ineligible for health benefits as outlined in the signed Employee Handbook. May be eligible for SICK benefits as defined by state requirements. SICK hours accrued can be located in the individual employee’s ADP WorkForce Now profile upon hire.
