Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into an impactful role as a Resource Teacher for middle school students during the 2026–2027 school year. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a pivotal part in fostering an inclusive environment, ensuring every student receives the support and resources needed to thrive academically and socially. This full-time contract position starts August 18, 2026, and continues through May 27, 2027, with a weekly commitment of 32.5–35 hours, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications and Certifications:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) endorsement
• Experience working with students with individualized education programs (IEPs) in a K-12 setting, preferably at the middle school level
• Strong understanding of special education laws, best practices, and instructional strategies
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to monitor student progress and implement effective classroom management techniques
• Commitment to creating an equitable and accessible learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver special education services in a resource setting for middle school students
• Develop and implement individualized instruction aligned with each student’s IEP goals
• Track and document student progress, maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations
• Partner with general education teachers to adapt curricula and classroom activities for students with diverse needs
• Attend IEP meetings, contribute to goal setting, and communicate regularly with families and staff
• Foster positive relationships with students to support social and emotional growth
