Medical Laboratory ScientistThe Medical Laboratory Scientist performs diagnostic testing on patient specimens to provide accurate results that support diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. This role is responsible for all phases of laboratory testing while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.Education & CertificationBachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field from a NAACLS-accredited program.ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification required, or certification eligibility with completion within one year of hire.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform, validate, interpret, and report laboratory test results.Conduct testing across all phases of the laboratory process (pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical).Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.Perform quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing activities.Ensure adequate inventory of supplies and reagents to support uninterrupted testing.Identify and resolve issues that may impact test accuracy or patient care.Maintain accurate documentation and utilize laboratory information systems effectively.Follow all laboratory policies, procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.Assist with training and orientation of new employees and students.Participate in quality improvement initiatives and laboratory projects.Communicate effectively with providers, patients, and team members.Support changing patient care needs, including flexibility in shifts, departments, and locations as required.QualificationsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.Ability to work accurately under time-sensitive conditions.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Commitment to patient safety, quality, teamwork, and customer service.Working ConditionsExposure to biological specimens, chemicals, and other laboratory hazards.May work variable shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call schedules.Requires prolonged standing, computer use, and detailed visual work.Ability to lift, move, push, or pull up to 45 pounds.Work environment may involve moderate physical demands, noise, and exposure to hazardous materials.This position plays a vital role in delivering timely, accurate laboratory results that support high-quality patient care.Shift: VariableTime Type: Full timeScheduled Weekly Hours: 40
