School Nurse Contract Position

Qualifications & Experience

• Current RN license in the state is required
• Prior experience in a school or pediatric setting preferred, but not required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Strong assessment and triage skills, with a calm demeanor under pressure
• Ability to maintain accurate records and protect sensitive student information
• CPR and First Aid certifications

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to students experiencing illness, injury, or chronic health needs
• Administer medications and implement care plans according to physician instructions
• Promote a healthy school environment through illness prevention, education, and screenings
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and parents to support student well-being
• Respond quickly to medical emergencies, following established protocols
• Document all interactions and maintain confidential health records
• Participate in the development of health policies and accommodation plans
