Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room/Surgery

The competent Nurse, with experience in a surgical or operating room setting, practices independently, demonstrating awareness of all relevant clinical aspects. This role involves providing routine and complex nursing care while effectively managing patient needs and delegating responsibilities to other care providers. Continuous development in coping with and managing clinical contingencies is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Consistently meets the expectations of leadership competencies, including being a leader of self and others.
• Provides nursing care in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social requirements of patients and families at the appropriate level of practice.
• Administers medications and treatments per established protocols, monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and delivered care accurately.
• Assesses patient education needs and provides necessary information to patients, families, and caregivers, identifying relevant issues and resources.

Job Requirements

Education and Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current BLS certification via AHA required.
• Active RN license in the state of employment or compact required.

Work Schedule

This full-time position requires a commitment of 4 days per week at 10 hours per day. Additional requirements include 1-2 weekend call shifts on a 24-hour basis and floating to other departments as needed.
