On-Call Registered Nurse (RN) — 7 Nights On, 7 Nights Off

Vitality Hospice & Palliative Care is hiring an energetic and compassionate On-Call Registered Nurse for a replacement position serving Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties. You'll work seven nights on, followed by seven nights off . You'll receive full-time pay and full PTO while being scheduled to work only half the year!

What You'll Do

During your seven-night rotation, you'll be the trusted clinical resource for patients, families, caregivers, and team members. Responsibilities may include:

• Responding promptly to overnight calls
• Assessing patient needs and providing skilled nursing guidance
• Triage and coordination of appropriate care
• Making in-person visits when needed
• Communicating with physicians, caregivers, and other team members
• Providing reassurance and compassionate support during stressful moments
• Completing accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Helping older adults remain safe, comfortable, and well cared for

This is an active overnight on-call role. The ideal candidate is comfortable being awake and available throughout the night and enjoys the energy and responsibility that come with being the person others rely on.

Visits may be scheduled at the start of a shift. You'll also travel throughout Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties for additional visits when patient needs arise.

What We're Looking For

• Current, unrestricted RN license in New Jersey
• At least one year of nursing experience preferred
• Experience in geriatrics, hospice, home health, long-term care, or emergency nursing is a plus
• Strong assessment, triage, and critical-thinking skills
• Calm, confident decision-making under pressure
• Genuine compassion for older adults and their families
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
• Ability to travel within the assigned service area, when required

New to hospice? We encourage you to apply. Hospice experience is preferred, but it isn't required. We're willing to train the right RN.

Schedule

• Seven consecutive nights on
• Seven consecutive nights off
• Monday–Thursday: 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. the following morning
• Friday 5:00 p.m. through Monday 8:00 a.m.: Weekend on-call coverage
• Weekend and holiday rotations are built into the seven-on/seven-off schedule
