Lead Respiratory Therapist Nights

Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, a state-of-the-art facility within the HCA Virginia Health System, is seeking a Lead Respiratory Therapist for our night shift team in the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this leadership role, you will combine advanced clinical expertise with strong team coordination skills to ensure high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care throughout the hospital during overnight hours.

The Lead Respiratory Therapist Nights is responsible for delivering and overseeing comprehensive respiratory care for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. You will perform advanced assessments, initiate and manage mechanical and non-invasive ventilation, interpret arterial blood gases, administer respiratory medications and therapies, and support airway management in both routine and emergency situations. As a key member of the hospital’s rapid response and code teams, you will respond quickly and effectively to critically ill patients, using evidence-based practices to stabilize and support them.

Beyond direct patient care, you will serve as the on-site clinical resource and point person for the respiratory therapy team during night shifts. You will coordinate staffing and workflow, assign patient care responsibilities, and monitor adherence to established protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and adjust care plans, ensuring that respiratory interventions align with the overall goals of care for each patient.
