Everett High School Connections Science Teacher Everett High School - Everett, Massachusetts Job Description The Everett High School Connections program will provide an in‑house alternative setting for students as they work to establish and maintain effective academic, social and emotional progress. Students will develop and utilize safe coping strategies to try to eventually reintegrate into general education classrooms. This will allow students to graduate high school with the skills necessary for successful transitions to post‑secondary education and/or career opportunities. The Connections Program offers a three‑pronged approach: Academic, Therapeutic, and Behavioral. General Description of the Position The teacher promotes a positive learning environment and delivers instruction to students whose educational needs are primarily the result of significant social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The teacher is responsible for the assessment of each student’s individual academic and behavioral needs (grades 9‑12). Essential Functions Assesses students’ academic and behavioral needs. Identifies individual needs and collaborates with the Connections team to create individualized success plans. Plans instruction using the approved EHS Science Department curriculum and current Massachusetts biology, chemistry, and physics frameworks, integrating individual success plans and participating in school‑wide assessment cycles. Implements individually designed success plans, coordinating with behavior/clinical staff, parents when available, and other related services staff. Communicates with students during instruction using language, tone, and body language that promotes positive behavior, conflict resolution, problem solving, and proactive management of escalating behavior. Confers frequently with consulting education staff, students, and parents concerning both academic and behavioral progress or concerns for all assigned students. Collaborates with the Science Director (9‑12) and Science department colleagues to review lesson plans, content, assessments, relevant data, and Tier II or III interventions to inform teaching practice. Minimum Qualifications Current MA teaching license in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, and SEI endorsement. Knowledge and experience teaching students with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. Experience in an alternative education setting/program (preferred). Ability to assess and teach academic skills in biology, chemistry, and physics for grades 9‑12. Skilled at working with professionals such as counselors, social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists to plan and deliver individualized success plans. Written and oral communication skills sufficient to perform essential functions. Ability to attend Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS) training provided by the district in August. Salary Based on the Everett Teachers Association CBA for SY 26‑27: $65,178 – $125,654 per year.
