Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Overview We are a small animal clinic located in Madison, MS. We have a unique culture and provide a hands‑on learning environment for externs! We will help you learn, help you grow, and most importantly help you become the best veterinarian you can be. We not only concentrate on quality medicine but quality client education and communication as well. We are here to “Redefine the Veterinary Experience.” Responsibilities Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Eligibility and Stipend Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Mannsdale Animal Clinic are designed for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students. Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. (Stipend details can be found on the company website.)
