Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Title

R-V Industries & subsidiaries is a design and build manufacturer of custom industrial process equipment. We engineer to order, as well as build to print, a wide variety of specialty equipment. Most of our equipment is built in-house by our own in-house fabricators, machinists, mechanical and electrical assemblers. There are design standards to follow and manage for this specialized equipment, continuous improvement initiatives to champion, and custom equipment to engineer and design.

Duties/Responsibilities

Champion our use of the SolidWorks software for your own personal development with the goal of maximizing our project execution efficiency and sales support potential. Assist and/or perform site inspections of existing equipment products for reverse engineering or for the purpose of new products, project execution, problem resolution, R&D, etc. Be able to apply fundamental engineering principles in the design, selection and application of our products and services. Be able and willing to travel globally when necessary. Responsible for the PO and specification review and all pertinent technical documentation required to build, assemble and test the equipment. This includes drawings, component specifications, bills of materials and procedures. Assist Sales, Project Managers, Purchasing, Quality, Manufacturing, Testing and Installation with all technical issues related to the contract. Communicate with our customer's technical personnel in all matters related to design along with any other pertinent technical requirements. Review project specifications, digest those specifications for manufacturing use, and create Bills of Materials with all pertinent technical requirements defined for purchasing. Ownership of all documentation related to the technical aspects of the products and any individual contract. Execute project from a budget and schedule standpoint for all technical tasks.

Skills/Qualifications

A passion for machine design and manufacturing methods. Highly detail oriented for the purpose of creating and upholding design standards and efficient flow of information. Multiple years of experience with SolidWorks or similar design software. AWS Welding Symbols. Geometric Tolerancing. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Technical writing. Sizing Components, establishing specifications for commercial components, and creating calculation packages. Create layout & detailed drawings. Check detailed drawings. Create Bills of Materials for purchasing and production. Strong Communication & Organizational skills. Willing to Train the Right Candidate: Project Management Experience. Experience with installation supervision and commissioning of mechanical equipment. Active PE License in the state of PA with machine design as your area of expertise is a plus. Establish an understanding of our designs and design standards with the goal of taking on project design lead responsibility. Develop an understanding of the materials of construction for the equipment for your own personal development with the goal of taking on technical responsibility. Develop an understanding of the calculation set for the equipment for your own personal development with the goal of managing the current set and developing additional calculations as we enhance our technical ability in the market.

Educational/Physical Requirements

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without accommodation.
