Profile review+Manager Interview SIMs Lab: All RNs will be expected to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion & central line dressing changes. NOTE - SIMs lab is pass/fail & nurses have been termed during SIMs Lab for breaking sterile field. Those travelers that understand sterile field typically pass SIMs Lab skills (See separate notes for the specific checklist IF traveler asks for additional details). The hospital expects that every nurse is competent in these areas, especially maintaining sterile field, as these are nursing skills that are performed frequently. NOTE: if a candidate indicates that they are not competent in either of these areas, they are probably not a good fit. In addition to SIMs Lab, they will also go through lifts, restraints, & wound care, but these are just educational based since the equipment & policies can be different facility to facility. Clinician must take and pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract. If clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, then they will be DNU for CS AZ and Sacramento for 6 months. Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past year. Yes all equipment used regularly. RT does ABGs and SVNs, ED staff do EKGs Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Yes central monitoring for all beds and halls except intake. No monitor techs. RNs read strips X-Ray or CT in the ER? Transport? Radiology is adjacent to ED. Have house transporters, not always available Phlebotomy or nurse draw Nurse or ED Techs draw off IV starts, phleb for other draws or blood cultures Shifts & Scheduling midshifts may be 11-11, 12-12, or 2-2, nights 1900-0700. We prefer to give travelers block schedule rotations. Weekend Requirement Every other weekend is the minimum Holiday Requirement Same as staff holiday rotations, 2 major holidays per year Is there a call or standby requirement?
