Facilities Maintenance Engineer II

Overview Provide utility system maintenance and repair for equipment located in the Central Energy Plant and the campus primary utility distribution systems in accordance with applicable codes. Review proposed utility designs for construction and renovation. Provide recommendations, advice and oversight on installation and modification of new utilities systems. Job Responsibilities Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal facility performance. Ensure smooth operation, maintenance, and safety of the facility; maintain a safety‑focused mindset on all aspects of the position. Provide support of preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic and pneumatic facility/equipment controls and respond to abnormal conditions and emergencies. Monitor and maintain cleanliness and upkeep of common areas and facility equipment. Improve technical expertise from senior team members and supervisor, assist with training of junior personnel, perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Minimum Education and/or Training High School diploma/ GED required. Minimum Experience 2+ years of experience as Maintenance Engineer/Shift Engineer in hospital or related environment. 2+ years of experience performing maintenance on utilities systems. Experience with facilities management, technical maintenance or customer service. Experience with repair and maintenance of facilities related equipment. Experience in a campus/multi‑building or single, multi‑story building environment, preferred. Technical Proficiency Basic proficiency in MS software and end‑user proficiency in CMMS software. Working knowledge of CMMSs, preferred. Working knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) (e.g., Metasys), preferred. Good understanding of applicable building systems (e.g., steam, chilled water, compressed gases, heat exchangers, HVAC). Familiarity with campus building occupants, contractors, and consultants. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Shelby County First Class Steam License required. Shelby County First Class Refrigeration License required. EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required. Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Questions, clarifies, and provides explanations as needed. Compensation St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role.
