Busser/Food Runner
A busser/food runner is a support role in a restaurant that helps keep service running smoothly by assisting servers and kitchen staff. The exact duties can vary by restaurant, but generally include the following:
Core Responsibilities
- Delivering food (food runner)
- Bring dishes from the kitchen to guests quickly and accurately
- Ensure plates match the order and presentation standards
- Communicate with kitchen staff and servers about orders
- Clearing and resetting tables (busser)
- Remove dirty dishes, glasses, and utensils promptly
- Wipe down tables and sanitize surfaces
- Reset tables with clean silverware, napkins, and glassware
- Supporting servers
- Refill water, bread, or beverages
- Assist with guest requests when needed
- Help maintain a clean and organized dining area
- Maintaining cleanliness
- Keep dining room, service stations, and restrooms tidy
- Take out trash and manage dish return areas
- Polish silverware and restock supplies
