Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A 13-week contract opportunity is available for a knowledgeable staff pharmacist to provide expert pharmaceutical care within a long-term care and mail order environment. This role requires a dedicated pharmacist comfortable working variable shifts throughout the week, including weekends, with schedules ranging from 9:30 AM to 8:30 PM.
Location: Anoka, MN
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday: Variable shifts (9:30 AM–6 PM, 10 AM–6:30 PM, or 11 AM–8:30 PM)
- Saturday and Sunday: 10 AM–6:30 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely accept and dispense prescription medications to patients.
- Monitor medication adherence and detect potential overuse to ensure compliance with legal standards.
- Verify that prescribed medications are appropriate for each patient’s condition.
- Maintain confidential patient records with accuracy and ensure effective management of pharmacy documentation.
- Provide consultative advice on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and storage.
- Educate patients on the use of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Deliver patient services including smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Compound medications, including preparing sterile solutions under standard protocols.
- Supervise and coordinate pharmacy staff such as technicians and clerks to optimize workflow.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers to address drug-related problems.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
- Minnesota Pharmacy license required.
- Experience in long-term care pharmacy is highly desirable.
- IV compounding experience is a plus but not essential.
