Community Support Specialist

Responsibilities

• Deliver individual Community Support Services (CSS) to clients in community settings.
• Assist clients in developing treatment goals within the first 14 days of service.
• Support clients in restoring, rehabilitating, and developing social and interpersonal skills.
• Identify and enhance support networks, community awareness, and coping strategies to improve clients’ functioning at home, work, and school.
• Help clients develop daily living skills and self-management strategies for psychiatric or emotional symptoms.
• Assist clients in recognizing and responding to triggers that may lead to functional impairments.
• Implement and support Crisis Management Plans as needed.
• Participate in collaborative meetings with staff, other agencies, and community supports.
• Provide crisis intervention services according to agency policies and procedures.
• Communicate regularly about clients’ status, including changes in mood, functioning, or health and safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation for all client interactions.
• Attend required office trainings and regular clinical supervision sessions.
• Promptly return phone calls and follow all safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in a mental health-related field; or
• Credentialed as a Community Support Specialist by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health
• Ability to learn and use computer systems for documentation and billing purposes
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training and supervision
