Welder

The Rig Welder is responsible for performing field welding and fabrication using personally owned welding equipment (rig truck) in support of plant maintenance, turnarounds, and capital projects. This position plays a critical role in ensuring piping systems, pressure equipment, and structural components are installed and repaired safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and company standards.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform field welding of piping, pressure vessels, and structural components using rig-mounted equipmentWeld various materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and specialty alloysRead and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, fabrication drawings, and weld proceduresSet up and operate welding rigs, including generators, leads, torches, and support toolsPerform pipe fitting, alignment, and tack welding in preparation for final weldsExecute welds in accordance with ASME Section IX and company Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) (consistent with plant welding standards interaction noted in Fw: Process Lines Connections - Qualifications Required to Work on Lethal Service Lines) [Fw: Proces...vice Lines | Outlook]Conduct quality checks and support NDE (e.g., X-ray, hydrotesting) requirementsTroubleshoot and repair piping systems and equipment in the fieldSupport turnarounds, outages, and construction projectsMaintain welding equipment and ensure safe operation of rig and toolsWork collaboratively with pipefitters, boilermakers, and other crafts to complete scopes efficientlyFollow all plant safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and PSM requirementsQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required4+ years of industrial welding experience (chemical, petrochemical, or refinery preferred)Valid welding certifications (AWS and/or ASME Section IX qualified)Demonstrated experience with field / rig welding in an industrial environmentAbility to pass weld qualification testsValid driver’s license required; TWIC preferredSkillsStrong knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and pipe weldingAbility to perform high-quality welds in demanding field conditionsStrong troubleshooting and repair skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong commitment to safety and qualityEquipment ResponsibilityOwn and operate a fully equipped welding rig (truck, welding machine, hand tools, torches, etc.)Maintain rig in safe working condition and compliant with company requirementsEnsure all tools and equipment meet job and safety standards #J-18808-Ljbffr
