Hughes County Jail is looking for a part-time licensed practical nurse (LPN) to join our team in Pierre, SD. This position includes some evenings and weekends. The salary is $29.92 - $32.36/hour based on experience.

Here is what you will do:

• Monitors and charts patients' behaviors, symptoms, and reactions to medications and dietary needs to provide doctors/nurse practitioners with accurate information necessary to implement proper patient care and treatment.
• Prepares and administers prescribed medications, treatments, and therapies to ensure correct treatment is administered properly in a timely and competent manner.
• Conducts individual and group sessions with patients and families to provide information and address concerns such as medication side effects, family planning, first aid, and preventive health care, when indicated.
• Assists doctors/nurse practitioners with rounds, minor procedures, and dressing changes to ensure quality patient care is provided.
• Collaborates with registered nurses to provide appropriate and efficient direct patient care services.
• Performs other work as assigned.

What we require:

• Graduation from an accredited educational institution possessing a Licensed Practical Nurse degree.
• LPN licensed from State of South Dakota.
• Possession of a valid South Dakota Driver's License.
• Background check and pre-employment drug screen before hire.
• CPR Certified.
