We're looking for a Youth Services Coordinator who brings creativity, initiative, and a genuine commitment to serving children, tweens, and families.The Carbondale Branch Library is seeking a collaborative professional to lead and develop engaging youth services for children and teens aged 0 to 18, emphasizing early literacy, elementary-age children, and tweens. This position combines programming, community engagement, collection maintenance, and relationship-building to create welcoming and meaningful experiences for young people and their caregivers.The Youth Services Coordinator will be an important part of the Carbondale team, planning and delivering services alongside other team members that respond to the needs and interests of the community. The position also builds connections with schools, families, community organizations, and colleagues throughout the District. We're looking for someone who communicates openly, shares ideas generously, supports their coworkers, and takes an active role in creating a positive, collaborative branch culture.Salary and Benefits:Salary range - actual placement dependent on experience and qualifications:Hiring salary range (MLIS): $27.73 - $30.57/hr; full salary range: $27.73 - $35.39/hr;Hiring salary range (non-MLIS): $25.75 - $28.39; full salary range: $25.75 – $32.86/hr;Stipend for Spanish proficiency, eligible after assessment following a minimum of 60 daysBenefits: Your salary is complemented by an attractive benefits package that includes 100% paid employee medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage; life insurance; up to a 6% retirement match; short- and long-term disability; wellness reimbursement; a potential commuting stipend; employee assistance plan; paid holidays; and paid time off. You're only about an hour's drive from world-class skiing at Aspen and Vail, and most of the District's towns are located on I-70 with easy access to larger population centers.Overview of key responsibilities:This position is responsible for creating, planning, and implementing a variety of youth services programs, performing community outreach, and collaborating with the Branch Manager to offer robust services for children and teens aged 0 to 18. The role includes developing and delivering engaging events and classes such as storytime, STEAM programs, book clubs, and artistic activities; building relationships with schools, community organizations, educators, and families through outreach and partnerships; and educating caregivers about early literacy practices and child development. Collaboration is key; the position involves contributing to District-wide events, attending meetings, and providing leadership and organizational support.Additional responsibilities include selecting books, materials, and activities for youth programs, coordinating schedules with presenters and performers, evaluating program effectiveness, and monitoring and maintaining the branch's youth collection to reflect community needs. Duties also encompass customer service at the Circulation Desk, assisting patrons of all ages with general library services, account questions, and computer use, as well as addressing reference inquiries and offering readers' advisory services.The role involves evaluating programs to ensure they meet the developmental needs of targeted groups, creating informative exhibits and displays, and sharing program information with other branches. Other tasks include participating in ongoing training and actively participating on the District's Youth Services Coordinator team and special projects.
