Bring Comfort & Companionship to Hospice Patients

"You have not lived until you have done something for someone who can never repay you."

Ascend Hospice is offering volunteer opportunities for compassionate, empathetic individuals who want to enhance their lives by giving time to others in their community. We are particularly in need of volunteers willing to make companionship visits to patients in facility settings, and occasionally private homes. Many patients appreciate the comfort and friendship a volunteer can provide, through chatting, a simple hug, sharing a book, movie, or meal, or assistance with a task or errand they can not perform on their own. Sometimes a quiet, reassuring presence is all that's needed to bring deep comfort. There are many possibilities!

Ascend Hospice also utilizes the gifts and talents of alternative practitioners, such as massage, reiki, pet and music therapists. Please let us know if you have any "alternative" gifts you would like to share as well!

Volunteers receive initial and ongoing training. A commitment of 1-2 hours per week for 1 year is encouraged.
