DVS LED Systems, a division of Dynamic Visual Solutions, is a leading manufacturer and provider of large-scale LED Video Wall Displays, serving a wide range of entertainment and commercial AV market applications throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.

DVS is currently seeking a Solder Rework Technician to join its team at its Headquarters in Pompano Beach (Fort Lauderdale area). The primary objective of this position is to perform fine-pitch SMD soldering, rework, and PCB trace and pad repair on printed circuit board assemblies under magnification, including removing and replacing failed surface-mount components, restoring damaged circuitry, and returning assemblies to specification.

This position requires advanced SMD soldering and rework skills and a solid working knowledge of electronics. Direct prior experience with SMD rework in electronics manufacturing, board-level repair, or a similar environment is required. Full training on our products and repair processes will be provided. This position reports to the Director of Service.

Primary Responsibilities

• Remove and replace SMD components, including LEDs, ICs, connectors, and passive components, using hot air rework stations, preheaters, and fine-tip soldering irons.
• Perform fine-pitch soldering and rework under a microscope on densely populated circuit boards.
• Repair damaged or lifted pads and broken or burned PCB traces using jumper wires, replacement pads, copper foil, and conductive or structural epoxy.
• Trace circuits on the board to locate open or shorted paths, and confirm continuity after every repair.
• Identify failed components and solder defects through visual inspection under magnification.
• Correct solder defects such as bridges, cold joints, tombstoning, and insufficient or excess solder, and clean and inspect all joints to workmanship standards.
• Test reworked assemblies using test fixtures and confirm they meet specification.
• Complete rework in priority order and meet turnaround targets.
• Document every repair in the company's ticketing and ERP systems, including fault found, parts used, time spent, and outcome.
  

Secondary Responsibilities

• Track repeat failures by product, batch, or component and report trends to the Director of Service.
• Maintain component, solder, flux, and tip stock at the rework bench and flag supplies that are running low.
• Maintain rework stations, soldering irons, and microscopes in good working condition.
• Follow and help improve rework SOPs, ESD procedures, and bench safety rules.
  

Requirements & Experience

This is a hands-on, skilled rework role. Candidates must demonstrate fine-pitch soldering ability, not general electronics exposure alone:

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on SMD soldering and rework experience.
• Expert skill with hot air rework stations, preheaters, fine-tip soldering irons, and stereo microscopes.
• Ability to rework fine-pitch components such as QFN, QFP, and small passive packages.
• Proven PCB trace and pad repair skills, including jumper wires, pad replacement, and epoxy repairs on fine-pitch boards.
• Ability to follow circuit paths on a board and use a multimeter to find opens and shorts and verify repairs.
• Steady hands and strong attention to detail for repetitive, precise work.
• Basic computer skills and comfort with ticketing or ERP systems; proficiency with MS Office.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• IPC certification (IPC-7711/7721, J-STD-001, or IPC-A-610)
• Background in contract electronics manufacturing, phone or board-level repair, or military electronics
• Experience with BGA rework
• NetSuite and Zendesk experience
  

Working Conditions

• Full-time, on-site position at DVS Headquarters in Pompano Beach, FL.
• Extended periods of seated bench work using magnification.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
