About the Position

Job Title: Cardiac Cath Lab RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiac Cath Lab Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 9 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent Cath Lab RN experience required License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Minimum 2 years of recent Cath Lab RN experience required. STEMI experience required. IR and Neuro IR experience preferred. Description: The department consists of 5 cath lab suites. On average, there are 5 coronary cases, 1 neuro case, 3 electrophysiology cases, and 16 interventional radiology cases per day. Common diagnoses and types of patients include STEMI, PCI, diagnostic coronary angiography, structural heart procedures, electrophysiology studies, ablations, device implants, synchronized cardioversions, transesophageal echocardiograms, acute stroke/thrombectomy, peripheral vascular interventions, biopsies, drain placements, and pre/post procedural recovery. A manager or charge nurse is present on each shift. Cath Lab Technicians assist by scrubbing and monitoring cases. Shifts are Monday through Friday, with 9-hour shifts and one rotating day off each week. There is a rotating weekday and weekend call requirement based on staffing needs. Call requirements are also in effect if a holiday falls during the contract period. Floating may occur within the cath lab department, including coronary, neuro IR, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and prep & recovery. Hospital-provided surgical scrubs are required for the dress code. Orientation is individualized based on previous experience and typically includes 1 to 2 days in each procedural area. The charting system used is EPIC.
