Responsibilities

Provides high quality, accurate and compassionate care to a diverse patient population. An Ophthalmic Technician displays high proficiency in taking patient histories and is highly organized to fully prepare the patient for the physician appointment.

1. Interacts professionally and compassionately with patients daily.
2. Performs diagnostic Visual Field Testing: Humphrey, Octopus and Goldman Fields.
3. Clinical Competence of Ophthalmic Imaging: OCT, HRT, Pachymetry, Topography and IOL Master.
4. Enters information into Electronic Medical Record.
5. Transports patients within the facility to additional departments.
6. Assists with rooming patients.
7. Stocks and disinfects examination rooms.
8. Provides assistance to Physicians and Ophthalmic Technicians in the Ophthalmology clinic.
9. Initiates patient's exam and prepares patients for physician appointments.
10. Documents medical history, symptoms, complaints, and medications.
11. Performs related patient service when necessary and as requested.
12. Travel may be required to accommodate staffing levels at other clinical facilities.
13. Performs diagnostic testing such as visual acuity eye exams, lensometry, keratometry, refractometry, and tonometry
14. Obtains Ophthalmic Imaging: OCT, Topography, Pachymetry, Specular Microscopy, Manual A-Scans and IOL Master.
15. Instructs patients on proper eyecare.
16. Adhere to regulations regarding drug samples and drug sample logs.
17. Ensures medication and supply expiration dates are current.
18. Other duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Possess a minimum of a HS Diploma or equivalent along with and meet the following criteria:
• Ophthalmic Assistant criteria AND,
• One-year prior experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or Ophthalmic Assistant OR
• Two years prior experience as a technician in an Optometry Clinic OR
• Successful completion of OSUP's Ophthalmic Personnel Training Program
• COA Preferred

Pay Range

USD $22.09 - USD $33.13 /Hr.
