Job Title: Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist Profession: Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist Specialty: Vascular Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Thursday, Friday, Saturday Hours per Shift: 1830 - 0700 Experience: Six months of related experience License: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Must be available to work over the holidays. Vascular ultrasound experience. Description: Responsible for diagnostic cardiac or vascular ultrasound that results in providing the cardiologist with measurements and accurate images of cardiac structures. These results are critical for the physician to provide accurate diagnosis. Provides immediate feedback with preliminary reports of critical results to nursing staff and physicians. This communication is vital for life-saving treatment interventions. Assists the physician with studies and aids in proceeding with complex procedures to decrease potential associated procedural risks. This includes procedures in the operating room, hybrid lab, catheterization lab, and CAD. Procedures include Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement (SAVR), Tandem heart, Lariet procedures, and pseudoaneurysm compression. Demonstrates correct technique, efficiency, and judgment in the performance of advanced cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures. Performs adult and pediatric cardiac ultrasound procedures, including transesophageal echocardiography and stress echocardiogram. Can perform peripheral vascular procedures, including arterial, renal, and transcranial Doppler. Reviews pertinent patient data and reports before procedures. Operates equipment necessary to perform all required procedures and obtains optimal diagnostic recording. Utilizes ancillary devices such as selected transducers and digital networking systems. Exercises appropriate judgment in the notification of abnormal results to the reading physician. Evaluates and reports findings to the cardiologist. Maintains proper documentation of data according to departmental and hospital policy. Documents all procedures accurately in departmental tracking processes. Processes charging and other necessary data efficiently and accurately. Collaborates in the maintenance of departmental efficiency. Anticipates needs in equipment and supplies. Uses resources wisely to assist in cost containment. Able to schedule patients in an efficient manner. Supports unit and hospital goals through quality assurance and educational activities. Maintains current competency and registry in the specialty practices. Demonstrates initiative in personal and professional development. Participates in departmental quality assurance processes and national accreditation processes. Modifies behavior and performance to meet changing departmental goals. Maintains clean environment.
