Vice President, Financial Institutions Group (FIG) Investment Banking - Life & Annuity

We are hiring a Vice President to join our Insurance Investment Banking team in New York as part of BMO’s Financial Institutions Group (FIG). The role focuses on delivering deep insurance industry sector expertise, innovative solutions, and top‑class execution across a full suite of financial products.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in deal teams to develop, present, and win mandates for new opportunities.
• Create pitch books for clients and assist in client presentations.
• Monitor clients, industry, and regulatory changes that could impact client portfolios and business needs.
• Review and continually assess performance of existing accounts and client relationships.
• Conduct due diligence, including client visits, business model analysis, and review of industry trends and regulations.
• Support the execution of strategic initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.
• Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Generate updated and industry‑aligned financial models and analyses as required.
• Develop financial models to analyze client portfolios and anticipate client needs.
• Apply appropriate technical concepts to produce reliable technical and financial reports and analyses for client deliverables.
• Understand transaction complexities and related risks (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.).
• Provide direction and feedback to Analysts; lead development and mentoring of analysts.
• Deliver financial modeling to support strategic recommendations to clients.
• Balance the bank’s risk appetite with client needs when making recommendations or proposals.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of insurance M&A experience across investment banking, corporate development, or actuarial consulting roles; strong interest in the U.S. life & annuity sector is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field with a strong academic record; MBA preferred but not required.
• Exceptional team player with a strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
• Detail‑oriented with strong analytical abilities.
• Deep, sophisticated understanding of accounting and finance.
• Excellent mathematical, written and verbal communication, and computer skills.
• Ability to manage senior banker expectations while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Effective leadership and coaching skills.
• Sound and professional judgment.
• Must acquire SIE Exam, Series 79, and Series 63 within 150 days of employment.

Base Salary: 260,000.00 USD

Salary Type: Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries may vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications. Compensation may include commission structure. Full‑time positions are salaried; commission roles include a target salary for the first year.
