Staff Development Specialist I (NS) Position Number: 60002010 | Grade: NC12 | Department: Department of Public Safety | Division: Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Position Overview: The Staff Development Specialist I provides curriculum design, instruction, and training support for the Basic Training School Program and In‑Service Training Programs. The role enhances learning outcomes through instructional design, course delivery, research, and e‑learning development. Responsibilities Refine instructional course objectives and content for existing Juvenile Justice Officer and Juvenile Court Counselor curricula. Develop new training initiatives and support the integration of adult learning practices. Serve as a member of the Juvenile Justice Training Committee and the Annual Training Review Committee, advising Staff Development Coordinators on innovative instructional strategies. Deliver courses and provide instruction to participants in Basic School Training and In‑Service Training Programs. Conduct research, create new educational content, and utilize e‑learning software (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise) to support training delivery. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and at least one year of progressive training or teaching experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge or experience with adult learning theory, instructional design, and e‑learning tools. Experience with Articulate Storyline, Rise, or comparable e‑learning platforms. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills for large volumes of training materials. Project and time‑management skills, including planning, executing, and evaluating tasks to meet deadlines. Problem‑solving abilities and ability to develop evidence‑based training strategies. Schedule & Compensation Work Hours: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Full‑time, 40 hours per week). Salary Range: $43,703 – $83,479, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits: State benefits package including paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, retirement, and health insurance.
