Water Technology Support Specialist II The Water Department of the Town of Marana seeks a Water Technology Support Specialist II to provide hands‑on support for SCADA, telemetry, and industrial control systems, emphasizing installation, troubleshooting, and system integration across a range of voltages to ensure safe, code‑compliant and reliable operation of water and wastewater infrastructure. Salary Expected hiring range: $24.31 – $29.78 Salary range: $24.31 – $35.25 Responsibilities Installs, wires, and troubleshoots electrical and control systems, including power distribution, control circuits, power supplies, relays, contactors, and protective devices. Performs panel layout, wiring, and terminations for SCADA and telemetry panels in accordance with NEC and industry standards; installs and connects field instrumentation (flow meters, level transmitters, pressure sensors, analyzers) with proper signal wiring (4‑20mA, discrete I/O, communication). Installs and maintains radio communication equipment, antennas, and low‑voltage power systems with grounding and surge protection. Troubleshoots electrical and control system issues such as loss of power, blown fuses/breakers, grounding issues, signal noise/interference, and failed devices or wiring faults. Provides SCADA system support including device commissioning, tag verification, I/O checkout, and hardware diagnostics. Supports industrial networking equipment such as switches, radios, and remote I/O systems. Reads and interprets electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and P&ID drawings. Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on SCADA panels, RTUs, and field equipment. Assists in design review and implementation of new control panels and system upgrades. Maintains documentation, asset records, and panel drawings. Performs installation and maintenance of radio infrastructure using a bucket truck at approximately 40 feet. Participates in a 24/7 on‑call rotation. Qualifications Associate’s degree (or equivalent relevant experience). Minimum one year of hands‑on experience in a related field, specifically: Control panel wiring and troubleshooting. SCADA, telemetry, or control systems environments. Experience with AC/DC power systems, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams. Field instrumentation and signal wiring (4‑20mA, digital I/O). Safe troubleshooting of energized systems using proper PPE and procedures. Additional Requirements Must pass a pre‑employment physical and a 25‑pound lift test. Valid Arizona Driver License. Ability to pass a Town of Marana background check and motor vehicle records check. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree in science, technology, industrial automation, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in water and wastewater SCADA systems. Experience with Rockwell Automation (Allen‑Bradley) systems (hardware, diagnostics, integration). Experience with industrial radio and telemetry systems. Strong working knowledge of Allen‑Bradley Stratix switches and industrial networking fundamentals. Experience building or modifying control panels and knowledge of applicable NEC provisions. Experience with VFDs, soft starts, overload control modules, and motor control systems. Instrumentation calibration and commissioning experience.
