About the Role:

We are seeking a senior Litigation Associate to join a sophisticated litigation practice handling complex commercial disputes, regulatory enforcement matters, and public law challenges for clients across a range of industries.

This opportunity is well suited for an attorney with strong litigation training who is looking for greater responsibility, direct client interaction, and meaningful involvement in high-impact disputes. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced partners and take ownership of significant matters from inception through resolution.

Associates will work on lean teams and have the opportunity to assume substantial responsibility, develop litigation strategy, and gain valuable stand-up and client-facing experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage cases and individual litigation workstreams with increasing independence.
• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, substantive briefs, and other complex legal documents.
• Conduct and oversee written discovery and motion practice.
• Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and client strategy meetings.
• Assist with commercial litigation involving contract disputes, fiduciary duty claims, and business torts.
• Handle partnership, shareholder, and corporate governance disputes.
• Assist with state and federal regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings.
• Handle administrative proceedings and writ petitions challenging agency action.
• Support appellate matters and provide pre-litigation strategic counseling.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research involving evolving statutory and regulatory frameworks.
• Work closely with partners to develop litigation strategy and case management plans.
• Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Assume ownership of key workstreams while maintaining efficient case management and high-quality work product.
• Assist with matters involving expedited proceedings, injunctive relief, parallel regulatory exposure, and significant financial or operational interests.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 6 years of litigation experience in state and/or federal courts.
• Experience drafting dispositive motions and managing complex discovery.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Experience handling sophisticated commercial litigation matters preferred.
• Interest or experience in regulatory enforcement and public law matters.
• Strong professional judgment and the ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and clients.
• Active membership in the California Bar or ability to obtain admission promptly.
• Experience at a leading law firm, litigation boutique, or government practice preferred.
• Judicial clerkship or government experience is a plus.
