Details Float pool position within ICU, requiring flexibility to float to all TCUs, ICUs, ED, and PACU Academic medical center setting 12-hour Day/Night rotating shifts on a 4-week schedule cycle, with potential to switch shifts between cycles based on need Day shift hours 7:00-19:30, Night shift hours 19:00-7:30 Patient ratio of 1:2 Epic EMR experience preferred Cares for complex critical care patients including those on ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD, and CRRT May float within a 75+ mile radius to other facilities and departments as needed Requirements Active CA RN license required BSN required AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required NIHSS certification preferred Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience required ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year required Experience caring for ECMO patients as a bedside RN, including primary ECMO responsibility without dedicated bedside perfusion support CVICU/CTICU/CCU experience required Trauma Level II experience required Teaching hospital/academic medical center experience preferred Recent travel nursing experience required, with a completed assignment within the past 12 months and no more than 1 year of travel experience in the past 5 years Ability to independently manage complex critical care patients Strong interpersonal communication skills Experience with VA ECMO, VV ECMO, V-PA ECMO, CRRT (NxStage), IABP (Teleflex), Impella, VADs, PA catheters, and prostacyclin therapies strongly preferred Experience with cardiothoracic surgery recovery, heart/lung transplant recovery, and bridge to transplant strongly preferred Experience simultaneously managing multiple support devices (e.g., ECMO + CRRT, ECMO + Impella, ECMO + IABP) highly desirable Proficiency in IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, blood product administration, and TPN/lipids Skilled in care of ventilated patients, ABG interpretation, and management of high-output drains Additional Information Provide nursing care for critically ill patients with cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, renal, and multisystem organ dysfunction Manage patients on mechanical circulatory support and multi-organ support therapies within the ICC care model Candidates should be evaluated on overall competency across cardiovascular critical care, transplant care, and mechanical circulatory support, not ECMO experience alone Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate as travelers All requested RTO must be disclosed at the time of submission and approved by the manager at time of offer; no additional RTO requests will be accepted mid-contract, and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed for a rehire eligibility review Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit These details are based on information provided by the facility and may include inaccuracies or be subject to updates.
