Software Engineer II

Overview We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join the Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering team at Blue Origin. The role focuses on building and maintaining distributed services and user interfaces that support engineering workflows across the company. You will help deliver reliable, data‑driven solutions that aid Blue Origin’s mission of safe, low‑cost access to space. Responsibilities Design and develop scalable reporting, dashboards, and RESTful services using Python, TypeScript, SQL, and related tools. Participate in building automated processes that integrate disparate systems to generate engineering‑level reporting for decision makers. Develop analytical data models that support standardized metrics. Produce and maintain documentation, runbooks, data dictionaries, and guides. Collaborate with partners and domain specialists to define reporting, application, and integration requirements. Manage day‑to‑day workflow and communication across the company. Qualifications 2+ years of professional software development experience. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience. Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, Ruby, C#, or equivalent general‑purpose language. Experience delivering services or products with ownership. Backend expertise creating web servers & APIs using Python, Node.js, or related frameworks (e.g., Next.js, Ruby on Rails, Flask). Front‑end skills: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (ES6, TypeScript), React, data visualization, and styling libraries such as Tailwind, Material‑UI, Bootstrap. Database proficiency: writing complex SQL queries and designing normalized schemas. Excellent written communication and presentation skills. Analytical, organized, and problem‑solving abilities. Knowledge of modern software practices such as version control, CI/CD, and test‑driven development. Attention to detail and high accuracy. Self‑starter with a strong bias for action. Desired Experience implementing data‑quality monitoring and alerting systems. Experience with hierarchical data structures and recursive processing. Experience with JIRA, GitLab, and Confluence. Experience with near real‑time or micro‑batch data feeds. Experience working with generative AI for structured data. Knowledge of ETL tools and processes. Experience with Linux, Docker, and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes). Familiarity with Infrastructure‑as‑Code and relevant technologies. Familiarity with AWS services (S3, RDS, EC2). Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes. Base Pay Range CO applicants: $123,714.00 - $173,199.60. WA applicants: $134,961.00 - $188,945.40. Other site ranges may differ.
