We are seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to support refinery construction, maintenance, and turnaround projects. The ideal candidate will have experience inspecting welds, verifying compliance with welding codes and project specifications, reviewing welding documentation, and ensuring work meets refinery quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspections of welds on piping, pressure vessels, structural steel, and other refinery equipment.
• Verify welding activities comply with applicable codes, project specifications, approved procedures, and quality standards.
• Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and welder qualifications.
• Inspect fit-up, joint preparation, welding processes, and completed welds.
• Identify, document, and report weld defects, nonconformances, and quality issues.
• Verify weld repairs are completed correctly and reinspect repaired areas.
• Coordinate with welding crews, quality control personnel, project managers, and client representatives.
• Review and maintain weld maps, inspection reports, weld logs, and quality documentation.
• Coordinate non-destructive examination (NDE/NDT), including radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and liquid penetrant testing as required.
• Ensure welding activities meet applicable ASME, API, AWS, and other project-specific requirements.
• Monitor quality control activities during refinery maintenance, piping installation, equipment repairs, and turnaround work.
• Follow refinery safety procedures, including PPE, hot work, and permit-to-work requirements.

Qualifications

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
• Previous welding inspection experience in a refinery, petrochemical facility, or industrial construction environment.
• Knowledge of applicable ASME, API, and AWS codes and welding standards.
• Experience inspecting process piping, pressure vessels, structural steel, or refinery equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, isometric drawings, weld symbols, and welding procedures.
• Experience reviewing welding documentation and preparing inspection reports.
• Familiarity with NDE/NDT methods and weld repair processes.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in an industrial refinery environment and follow site safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with refinery turnarounds, outages, and maintenance projects.
• Knowledge of piping systems, pressure equipment, and applicable inspection requirements.
• Additional welding, NDE, or quality inspection certifications.

Work Environment

• Work performed at an operating refinery or industrial project site.
• May involve exposure to outdoor weather, elevated work areas, industrial equipment, and active construction or maintenance activities.
• PPE and compliance with refinery safety procedures are required.
• Schedule may include extended hours, overtime, nights, weekends, or turnaround shifts depending on project needs.
