Chief Estimator

YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY: The Chief Estimator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the division's estimating program, providing technical and administrative direction to ensure corporate objectives are met. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Manage and administer department functions including operating budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments, performance evaluations, bid results and archives. Implement and maintain corporate estimating procedures using the corporate computer estimating system and database. Assist Executives, Business Development, and Project Management to determine which projects to bid on and develop bidding strategies. Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to formal quotation. Review scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects. Present to corporate management and clients; may be responsible for closing the sale. Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts and change orders as required. Assist in preparing studies, materials, methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: Advanced management or technical training preferred. Organizational, supervisory, and decision‑making/problem‑solving skills essential. Proficiency in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Familiarity with modern computer estimating systems. Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and adjust priorities as necessary. Capability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude. Effective oral and written communication skills. Self‑motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Professional interaction skills with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others. COMPETENCIES: Leadership Financial Awareness Quality WHAT YOU BRING TO US: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a business‑related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in facility construction estimating and related functions, with thorough knowledge of corporate objectives, estimating strategies, techniques, and construction contracts. Combination of education and technical/field training such as Engineering and Estimating experience. TRAVEL: Up to 10% or as required. WORKING CONDITIONS: General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite.
