Registered Nurse PACU

Job Summary:


We seek a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to provide skilled nursing care, case management, and support to patients recovering from surgery. The Registered Nurse will perform patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Strong communication and collaboration with patients, providers, and team members are essential. A minimum of two years of nursing experience is required.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to post-surgical patients in the PACU setting.
• Perform patient assessments including vital signs and recovery status monitoring.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
• Document patient care activities and communicate changes in patient condition promptly.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during the recovery process.
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care and discharge instructions.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience, preferably including PACU or surgical care.
• Clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Driver's license, car insurance, and automobile for field work if applicable.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in critical care, ICU, or surgical nursing environments.
• Advanced certifications such as ACLS or PALS.
• Previous experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Special Considerations:

• Work is performed in a PACU environment requiring close patient monitoring post-anesthesia.
• Strong collaboration with surgical teams and anesthesiologists is necessary.
• Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and patient condition changes.

Scheduling:

• 8-hour shifts with variable day schedules based on surgical schedule and unit needs.
• Typical shift start times include 0900, 1000, or 1330.
