Registered Nurse Cardiac Stepdown

Job Summary:

Provides specialized nursing care to patients in a 15-bed Progressive Care Unit, including step-down ICU and telemetry. The role involves delivering primary nursing, monitoring patient vital signs, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Administer direct patient care, including medication management and telemetry monitoring.
  
  
• 
  Perform accuracy in telemetry strip reading and fingerstick blood sugar assessments.
  
  
• 
  Utilize Meditech charting, Pyxis medication system, and BIPAP equipment.
  
  
• 
  Document patient data, treatment plans, and progress in accordance with clinical protocols.
  
  
• 
  Maintain patient safety and respond effectively to clinical emergencies.
  
  
• 
  Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Valid Hawaii RN license required before start of assignment.
  
  
• 
  At least 1 year of recent hospital acute care experience within the past year.
  
  
• 
  Experience in Progressive Care and telemetry indicated as preferred.
  
  
• 
  Current healthcare provider BLS certification; ACLS and PALS preferred.
  
  
• 
  Certification in NIHSS is preferred.
  
  
• 
  Ability to float to other acute units, including Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER.
