About UFW Foundation: For 20 years, the UFW Foundation has mobilized farm workers and their organizations across the country to advocate for more equitable policies, such as immigration reform, pesticide protections, heat standards, hazard pay, and other worker protections. We engage constituents in systemic change to break the cycle of poverty while also providing critical services. In fact, the UFW Foundation is one of the largest federally accredited immigration legal service providers in the state of California. The organization has staff in Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, New York, and Washington state.

SUMMARY:

The Managing Service Provider position will provide affirmative immigration relief services and work closely with other UFW Foundation programs to drive an organizing culture which influences systemic change. The work involves conducting research of legal sources such as statutes, regulations, legal opinion, and related documents. May involve the review and approval of applications and reports for compliance with laws and regulations. The work may involve the preparation of case summaries and reports of pertinent facts. Performs related work as required. This position requires a strong understanding of the immigrant community and a deep belief that all human beings should be treated justly and with respect. The Managing Service Provider will be a member of the Community Advancement Services legal team. The Managing Service Provider has prior experience working with immigrant communities. The Managing Service Provider will report to a Directing Attorney.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (This is not an exhaustive list)

• Assist at UFW Foundation-led naturalization and DACA renewal group processing events.
• Assist office staff with administrative needs as needed or directed.
• Assist with community legal education presentations and outreach activities as needed, such as Know Your Rights presentations and other affirmative immigration relief information sessions.
• Attend all “triage” meetings as directed to screen for potential clients.
• Coach, train, and discipline Service Providers as needed. The Managing Service Provider is a direct supervisor with management responsibilities, including, but not limited to: performance evaluations, reviewing and approving employee timecards; giving work assignments to employees; providing on-the-job training for assigned duties; attempting to resolve workflow or procedural conflicts; etc.
• Explain initial and/or appeal processes and timelines.
• Give clients a clear analysis of their cases, relief options, and next steps.
• Identify trends in Department of Homeland Services practices and community needs that will help inform advocacy efforts.
• Prepare and submit applications, legal briefs, and supporting documentation for immigration relief, including but not limited to naturalization, DACA renewal, employment authorization, family-based petitions, adjustment of status, and renewal of permanent resident card, asylum, withholding, relief under the Convention Against Torture, U visa, VAWA, adjustment of status with applicable waivers, refugee waivers, Special Immigrant Juvenile Visas and other general removal defense issues.
• Prepare and submit reports to program funders as assigned.
• Provide services to community college students, staff, faculty and their families with affirmative immigration applications, as well as removal defense cases.
• Provide trainings and technical assistance to UFW Foundation staff, volunteers and partner organizations.
• Regular travel to necessary court hearings community colleges (as assigned), UFW Foundation service centers and trainings.
• Review criminal dispositions and analyze immigration consequences.
• Support UFW Foundation member services department application workshops and other events, when possible.
• Support UFW Foundation’s fundraising goals.
• The Managing Service Provider is distinguished from the Lead Service Provider is a direct supervisor with management responsibilities, including, but not limited to: performance evaluations, reviewing and approving employee timecards; giving work assignments to employees; providing on-the-job training for assigned duties; attempting to resolve workflow or procedural conflicts; assisting with hiring Service Providers, etc.
• The Managing Service Provider is distinguished from the Senior Service Provider in that the Senior Service Provider has additional experience and / or training than the Managing Service Provider.
• Work closely with Senior Service Providers, Supervising Attorney and Directing Attorneys to maximize case output.
• Work diligently to file cases.
• Other tasks as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Train and supervise service providers, legal assistants, and others as they prepare for DOJ accreditation or renewal.
• May include coordination and supervision of volunteers/fellows/interns as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate for this position must have a high level of professionalism and organization. The candidate must demonstrate competency in the following areas:

• Bilingual (English and Spanish or English and indigenous language or English and other languages as needed to meet communities' needs);
• Dedication to Mission. A genuine interest in immigrant and farm worker rights;
• Detail-oriented and strong writing skills;
• Supervisory experience a plus;
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including good communication skills, listening skills and attitude;
• Ability to work both independently and under supervision;
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends;
• Ability to keep track of projects and deadlines, and communicate progress in real-time.
• Problem-solving/analysis and results-driven;

• Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience working with the immigrant and vulnerable communities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• BA/BS degree in Social Sciences, Business, Organizational Management, a related field or equivalent experience.
• Worked as a DOJ Accredited Representative with + years of affirmative immigration experience.

The annual salary pay range for this position is $70,524.00 to $85,000.00, and benefits include:
