About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Nursing Duration: 8 weeks Shift: 7P-7A Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required; 5 years preferred License: RN license required Certifications: CPR required; BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG required Must-Have: Travel experience, cardiac monitoring, sedation, pain management, chest tube care Description: Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process, within established standards and practices for assigned patients. Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients. Applies the nursing process to ensure optimal patient care. Performs head-to-toe assessments on all patients and re-assessments as per policy. Provides individualized, age-specific care to support homeostatic regulation, hemodynamic monitoring, and physiologic functioning. Maintains accurate nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, and assessment of changes. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity while maintaining patient confidentiality. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Functions as a patient advocate. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles over the life span. Interacts professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of an individualized plan of care. Reviews, revises, and updates the plan of care daily. Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning; includes family in teaching, as appropriate. Supervises other healthcare staff involved in patient care. Allocates and monitors the work of others. Assists physicians with procedures. Responds promptly to changes in workload to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of performance improvement activities. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees. Enhances professional growth through participation in educational programs and ongoing education. Maintains operation of patient care equipment and ensures adequate stock of supplies. Demonstrates flexibility and organizational skills under stressful situations. Meets all departmental specific competencies. Performs housekeeping duties and assists with patient transportation when needed. Adheres to dress code and policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Serves as a team leader and role model for other staff members.
