Assoc. Dir - Large Molecule External Manufacturing Technology, Network & Viral Lead

Merck

Associate Director role leading large molecule drug substance external manufacturing technology and viral product network transfers. Responsible for managing a portfolio of contract manufacturing organization projects, including tech transfers, process development, commercialization, and lifecycle management across the global supply network.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end tech transfer and process development projects with external suppliers for viral drug substances
Manage portfolio of large molecule drug substance projects and commercial supply nodes globally
Direct cross-functional meetings with external suppliers to monitor technical aspects, changes, and deviations
Develop and execute process improvement and innovation initiatives to reduce costs and enhance efficiency
Conduct supplier technical due diligence, audits, and facility assessments

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry or related scientific discipline
Extensive experience with large molecule drug substance manufacturing and scale-up
Proven project management expertise with cross-functional team leadership
Strong technical and business acumen in CMO supplier management
Experience with technology transfer, process development, and regulatory compliance
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to travel as needed and work independently
